April 29, 2001 - Vanity Plates Spark Heritage Controversey

It looks like the last laugh was on JB. Even though the “Pres” had ordered
vanity plates spelling out the name of the Red Wing rivals, the Wings
actually went on to defeat the OCN Blizzard.
After watching many of his favorite teams (including a well known football
organization) go down in defeat for more years than he cares to remember,
President for Life JB decided to hedge his bets.
With the Weyburn Red Wings initially looking pretty grim in the playoffs, JB
ordered a set of vanity plates that actually backed the OCN Blizzards!
However, the Red Wings struggled back to win the series!
This move by the “Pres” is actually the latest in a bizarre saga that
started with terrorists misspelling IKE on the clubhouse. After JB corrected
the spelling error at considerable cost, the Ladies IKE defaced the barn
again. And then a Halloween witch did a face plant on a pole near the
clubhouse, allegedly while laughing so hard that she didn’t see it coming.
The latest twist in JB’s problems with “signs” is seen by some as another
grim reminder of his slipping popularity.
However, other IKE watchers insist it has nothing at all to do with the
Pres’s popularity. They say that he is merely acknowledging some of his
“hidden” relatives. Once again, the rumours are flying about the actual
Bukowski heritage.
Whatever the reason, this latest move by the Pres is likely to spark some
vigorous debate about how long he can maintain his tenuous hold on the
prestigious position he has held for so long.

Plates Before and After
The evidence: JB's plates before the Blizzard tourney and while the
tournament was on.

Plates With Hands
An alert SGI employee took this photo during the actual production of the
vanity plates. This factory employee (who wishes to remain anonymous) said
the plates were ordered well in advance of the series.

Plate Struggle
The same SGI employee is seen struggling with his supervisor who did not
wish to send the plates out. He said JB's plates should have been produced
in Manitoba.
